ICPR2026 IMDS Best Scientific Paper Award (M2 Manabe)

Toranosuke Manabe (M2) received the IMDS Best Scientific Paper Award (Track 3: Image, Speech, Signal and Video Processing) at ICPR 2026, the 28th International Conference on Pattern Recognition, held in Lyon, France, August 17–22, 2026. The award is presented to the most outstanding paper in each of the six tracks of the conference.

The paper proposes a framework for transferring the prosody of speech from sign language videos, using a sign reconstruction-based GAN to link the motion of signing with the prosodic characteristics of the corresponding utterance.

ICPR is the flagship conference of the International Association for Pattern Recognition (IAPR). Congratulations, Manabe-kun!
