[Award] Shintaro Shiba Receives the 39th “Pioneering Originality Advanced Technology Award” Sankei Shimbun Prize

Mr. Shintaro Shiba, a visiting lecturer at our laboratory (Specially Appointed Lecturer, Department of Electrical Engineering, Graduate School of Engineering, The University of Tokyo), received the Sankei Shimbun Prize (Outstanding Award in the Adult Category) at the 39th "Pioneering Originality Advanced Technology Award." The award ceremony was held on July 22, 2026, at the Meiji Kinenkan, attended by Her Imperial Highness Princess Takamado Hisako.

Mr. Shiba obtained his PhD in Engineering at our laboratory in 2023 and continues to collaborate closely as a visiting lecturer while conducting research. This award recognizes the entire series of achievements from fundamental to applied research on processing theory for event cameras, which he has consistently pursued since his doctoral studies. Event cameras are one of the core research themes of our laboratory and represent a promising field for future development toward low power consumption and real-time visual-based AI.

Congratulations, Mr. Shiba!
