KOSÉ Corporation (head office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Kazutoshi Kobayashi), in collaboration with Professor Yoshimitsu Aoki of Keio University, has developed an "unsupervised distance learning model" that can automatically classify images based on the similarity of lip makeup shapes and colors without subjective bias. This model is efficient as it does not require manual labeling and is expected to be applied to trend analysis of lip makeup on social media and other platforms. Its high classification accuracy also makes it less likely to overlook minority styles. Part of these research results was presented at the 35th IFSCC Scientific Conference (September 15-18, 2025, Cannes, France).
